Unfortunately, when I got to Volcano national park on the Big Island, they do not allow you to get close enough to see any volcanic activity. So I ended up taking this <a href="http://www.safarihelicopters.com/bigislandtours.html" title="Big Island volcano helicopter tour" rel="nofollow">Hawaii volcano helicopter tour</a> from Safari Helicopters. I did experience a little motion sickness, so I recommend taking something for that before getting on the helicopter, but the views of the Hawaii volcanic activity were awesome. I highly recommend taking some type of helicopter tour to see the lava if it's something that interests you.
